Mengli’s Extensions

Tags

Mengli’s another amazing customer who traveled so far to get her nails done!

She saw the flash offer I had on extensions and decided to come and give it a try!

Here’s the outcome:

I know they’re not perfect, and I wished so badly that I had cover pink acrylic powder so that I could lengthen the look of the nail bed and enhance the french tips, then they would look longer and more slender as Mengli has really small nail beds!I’m glad she loved how it looked in the end, though of course they weren’t perfect.I love how understanding my clients are!Oh gosh, I just remembered I should’ve taken a “before” picture, then you can see how small her nail beds are.Thank you for giving me a chance to practice Mengli, and especially for traveling so far here to my new workplace to get your nails done. I really appreciate it!<3

Frantically trying to brush up on my extensions for the exam!

I had the last minute decision to take all my exams on the same day, *SHUDDERS*, which I regret terribly, but what’s done is done, so I buried myself in extension practice.

Here’s the past few sets I did:

*The criteria is one hand acrylic extensions(tip and sculptured), the other gel extensions(tip and sculptured).

One nail on each hand has to have red polish painted over an extension, one embossed art on the acrylic hand and any art on the gel hand.

I have to finish them in 3 hours, with the acrylic nails buffed to shine(no topcoat allowed, *sobs*.

All extensions done on my actual model for the exam date, so she wears AngelPro Nail Shield(a product that allows removal easily after i am done with my practice), so if you do see any lifting here, its because the nail shield is doing its work.

As you can see this last set is the only one with art, as i finally managed to finish the entire set with 1 minute left. =(

One last practice tomorrow before Sunday’s exam.More updates tomorrow!

Goodnight!

Exam Preparation 1: My favorite homework

If you know me well enough, you’d know I do not like regular nail polishes, at all!

They dry up fast(not thoroughly though), gets smudged easily, and is so so so challenging to apply.

Before my exams there’s a few assignments I’d have to complete(part of the assessment), so here’s what I’ve been up to:

14ed9c26, Uploaded from the Photobucket iPhone App

This is two-thirds of my acrylic assessment.

The first picture you see above is sculptured french tips, its supposed to help me practice sculpting gorgeous smile-lines on a set of french extensions.

The second picture you see is sculptured full tip. I sculpt the shape of the nail with acrylic onto a nail form.

The goal is to achieve a structurally sound nail.

These two has to be the easiest out of all the homework I’ve done. Shhh… I’m dreading the polishing!

Oh well! I’m gonna continue with the last of this assignment later today-pink and white sculptured nail on fake tips.

Stay tuned if you’re curious!

Self-study session in school!

Hello Ladies!!!

If you’ve followed religiously, the updates I’ve posted on Felicious Nails Facebook page, you’d have caught wind that I’m gonna bite the bullet and take the exam I’ve been holding back since forever. (That’s why I’ve been turning down appointments, I need all the time in the world to get ready for these exams!)

To tell the truth I’ve actually wanted to not take the exams, but for the sake of the money I’ve paid for the exam fees, I’m gonna give it a try.

I haven’t been as hardworking as I should, haven’t been practicing my gel and acrylic sculpturing techniques daily since I’ve left Pink Room(my nail school), so when Nicole, my teacher, told me to take my exams all at once, I was so bothered, I felt like I was going to have a nervous breakdown. I know, I know, I should’ve taken the exam wayyyyy before I graduated from Pink room and practiced daily. =(

There’s so much work to do.

Homework, practicing and studying, all just 2 weeks before the exam. We’ve had exams during classes when we attend school lessons(compulsory), but this upcoming exam(not compulsory) is huge and everyone knows how strict Pink Room is, when it comes to exams.

What’s scarier to me is having my multiple-award-winning teacher Joe, assess my work.*shivers* Anyway, my kind-hearted friends Ying and Jenrine were so sweet they volunteered to be my models for practice and for the actual exam.

I did get a stranger as a model, and she was super nice too!I’m really thankful to have such encouraging and helpful kind souls around me to help me get through this really really difficult time.

Ok enough of the blabbering.

Here’s Jenrine’s GORGEOUS FINGERS:

Acrylic extensions on the right, pinkie and middle finger clear tip extensions, ring and index finger sculptured extensions.

I know they aren’t perfect so please don’t judge me.

Here, her left hand, in Gel extensions. Index and middle finger sculptured, last two fingers tip extensions.

Then, I practiced polishing as well(my weakest link-traditional nail polish).

I honestly thought I was gonna dieeeeeee, but of course I didn’t, because I have awesome Ying, Jenrine and my model Jes.

This first set of nails, done on Ying.

This second set on Jes:

And this was what I did for her before she left:

I know, I need to practice LOADS on polishing…I had so much fun!!!More on my homework tomorrow! Good night!

I’ve posted this on Facebook but not here, and I figure some of you might like to know, so here it is!

There’s a really short period before my examinations and I need as much practice as possible. BUT, I AM a trained professional, so I’d still need income while I’m practicing right?

So, here it is, Felicious Nails is making an exception. JUST FOR THIS PERIOD, I will be providing classic manicure at $10!

There will be a limited range of nail polish to choose from, you can bring your own if you like.

How this works is, I’ll be performing a classic manicure for you, and the first set of polishing will be red on one hand and french nails on their other.

When I’m done, I will remove the polish and apply the color of your choice for you.

*Quality products will be used: Poshe base and topcoat, OPI nail polish, you’d even get a hand massage and cuticle oil application!!!

This way you get a full classic manicure and I get more practice! =D

For available dates and timings, please refer to “Flash Promotion 1″ below this post and email me at feliciousnails@yahoo.com to make an appointment.

Thank you!!!!

Previously I did a similar set for Sindy, the color block nails, and Evelyn loved how simple yet classy and modern this set looked, so she went for it!

This time, instead of painting the white on black , I painted the black on white base, so that I could practice leaving a pretty cuticle line (i’m trying to practice polishing every single chance I get).

This set looked so much better when its on natural nails like this!

Xiaoxi wanted the roses on Celeste’s mixed-up set’s pinkies so she came and had a hard time selecting a design and color.

She went through my color and design charts to try to describe what she wanted to me and finally settled on this set of nails!

This is one of the nail designs I’ve done multiple times and clients still loved it!

Only one picture this time, since the rest didn’t catch the light and looked like they were taken in the dark. =(

Royal Blue toes!

Tags

, , ,

I’ve yet to post pictures of my toes which is 17 days old, done with Gelish.

Some people think it’s ridiculous to have Gelish worn on their toes as normal polish lasts long enough for them, but my clients and I think otherwise.

We love how we can walk away worry-free the moment our feet leaves the LED lamp, and how the shine never dulls even after a month.

Jasz is one of my clients who loves Gelish, so she sent me a picture of Shona’s manicure and wanted them on her big toe, while the smaller toes get dressed with polka dots.

And here’s how they look:

All art done with gel polish!!! The result is an abstract look, but I LOVED IT!

Do you bring a smile or cause a frown?

This is going to be a lengthy post, so if you’re easily bored, this isn’t for you.

If you are wondering what your home-based/mobile nail technician or manicurist thinks of you, or wondering why you get rejected for appointments, you may be enlightened after this lengthy post sheds some light.

Even though I’ve entered this industry for a short period of time compared to other gurus, I’ve met all kinds of customers from different walks of life.

Some are angels sent from above, to brighten up your day, make your smile, remind you why you chose this career and add fuel to your passion for the job.

They are the ones creating smiles on your faces, the ones you talk about to others. They make you feel appreciated, for all the concentration, the focus and they bring out the perfectionist in you, if you aren’t normally.

The kind gestures of sending you a text message after leaving the service, telling you how much they loved their nails done by you, how much they appreciated the time and effort you put into the small set of nail art. They didn’t have to, but they did.

They are concerned about your time, whether or not you’ve eaten, whether you need to close the windows and lock the door when you both leave after service together.

They spend time reading your terms and conditions stated on your website, make appointments way beforehand and keeps them, asks for slots/appointments according to your schedule, they bother about contacting you with the designated format and information required, they arrive on time, and if not, earlier.

These clients make your day. They leave a huge smile on your face, because you know you made theirs, with the little canvases they now have on their hands, little bits and pieces they can’t stop staring at, because they love their pretty nails.

Then of course, you have the others. Those that make you question your skills and abilities, those that put a frown on your face. Simply because, to them, you’re just another manicurist.

They haggle about price quoted(do we look like pasar malam stall owners?), asks for last minute slots (for appointments on the same day), never appreciates your sense of urgency to reply their emails or sms-es. You respect them giving them priority, but they take it for granted by not confirming slots or taking their own sweet time to reply.

Those who refuse to listen, when you explain to them about how the products work, ignore your warnings about getting lint on their enhancements, then return asking for help, or blaming you for service breakdown.

In extreme cases, they treat you like you should wait on them hand and foot, even though they’re paying you peanuts, for work that requires effort, work that they cannot get at the same price elsewhere.

These are the people who make meaningless comments, asks unending questions, those that demand time and more time, out of your limited schedule.

This bunch has a special trait, they love making last minute appointments, love wasting your SMSes, they disregard your time and effort in replying them, then ridicule you further by not replying. They don’t bother about your schedules, or about wasting your time, they don’t even have basic manners.

You give them your best during the appointment, but it’s never enough. They demand time, after-sales service, on top of the massive amount of time you allocate to them.

It seems they think that your life revolves around only your job, and because they are customers, they have the right to pick, choose, criticize, demean, abuse. Being thankful, acknowledging effort and having basic courtesy, seems completely foreign to them.

What they don’t know, is that, whether or not, they etch a smile, or a frown on your face, you remembered.

For the fellow nail-technicians, my hope is that you remember the precious gems and appreciate them, for they so are hard to come by, for they deserve your best slots and your utmost best, for how wonderful they are.

To my clients, my wish is that you always the session feeling satisfied. I want this place to be a little sanctuary, a little corner that they can totally feel at home in, and share their joy and sorrows, with me.

This post is dedicated especially to you, the clients that brought a smile to my face, for the angel that they’ve been!

The message on the front of this card is more apt than ever, for you awesome ladies that brought a smile to my face:
